Privacy Policy
Easy Learn Hanzi / "Learning Chinese Characters Made Easy" ("we", "us", or "the App") respects your privacy and the privacy of children using the App with guardians. Please read this Privacy Policy before you use the App or browse related pages on our site. If you disagree with this Policy, do not use the App.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to your download, installation, and use of our mobile apps (including iOS and Android builds) and to official web pages we publish about the App.
Where learning data stays only on your device and is not uploaded to our servers, it may not be remotely linked to an identifiable person by us—however, always protect physical access to the device.
2. Information we process and why
To provide literacy lessons, review, challenges, and multiple child profiles, the App may store on your device: progress, review history, challenge timings, profile nicknames, and simple local rewards/badges tied to learning.
In the **current primary versions**, this data is **stored locally by default** to restore sessions and show stats. **We do not routinely force-upload this on-device learning data to our own servers**, except where required by law, by lawful requests from public authorities, or where you clearly consent and upload is necessary for a described feature.
If you email us or submit feedback via a form or app-store channel, we may process the contact details and message content you send so we can reply and improve the product—please avoid sending sensitive personal data unnecessarily.
3. Network use and optional analytics
Depending on the build, the App may use the network to load online resources, check for updates, or when you explicitly trigger sharing or similar actions. We aim to limit network use to what features reasonably need.
If future releases add anonymised analytics, crash diagnostics, or performance logs, we will describe them in release notes or an updated Privacy Policy, including categories retained and opt-out where applicable.
4. Device permissions
Permissions may include **network access** and **storage/media access** (for caching learning assets or files you choose to export). The exact labels depend on your OS version and our release notes.
You can grant or revoke permissions in system settings; some features may stop working if required permissions are off.
5. Text-to-speech and third parties
Read-aloud uses the operating system text-to-speech engine and any voices you install; synthesis is governed by your platform provider’s policies.
App stores (e.g. Apple App Store, Google Play) handle account and payment data under their own privacy terms.
6. Children
The App is designed for families and educational use. Minors should use it with a guardian who has read this Policy and supervises device use and screen time.
7. Your choices and rights
**On-device data**: You can delete local learning data by uninstalling the App, clearing app data, or using in-app reset options if provided in your build.
**Contact us**: For questions or requests to exercise access, correction, or deletion rights where applicable, use the developer contact channel on the store listing or our official support email. We will respond within a reasonable time after verifying your request.
If you do not accept an updated Policy, stop using the App and uninstall it; continued use may mean you accept the update where permitted by law.
8. Retention and security
Local data retention is under your control; uninstalling or clearing data typically removes it from the device without recovery.
Where we must retain certain information under law, we keep it only as long as necessary unless a longer period is legally required.
We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy for product or legal reasons. Updated versions will be posted here or in-app with an effective date.
Questions? Contact us via the store developer page or support email listed there.
**Effective date**: 10 May 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes how the product handles information in its current design and versions. It supports user understanding and store review requirements and is not legal advice. Mandatory laws and regulators in your region may impose additional obligations.
